Book a performance today!

Performances by our Music Center performing artists serve as models of artistic excellence, inspiring creative thinking and introducing young audiences to the world’s diverse cultural traditions. Our artists represent and celebrate the finest artistic contribution of the world’s cultures—from the colorful regional dances of Mexico to the exquisite music of China, from the pulsating rhythms of Brazil to the golden harmonies of 20th century America.

Our school assemblies are designed to complement and enhance what students are learning in the classroom through meaningful curriculum connections and universal themes that carry across cultures, styles and content areas. Assemblies include written teacher preparation materials that contain background information on the artist and specific performances, as well as pre- and post-performance activities for the classroom and connections to multiple curricular areas.

Please contact us at (213) 972-4310 or performingartists@musiccenter.org. You can also use our booking form below.

Information To Have Ready Prior to Scheduling a Performance

We pride ourselves on making the processes of scheduling a performing artist at your school or event as easy as possible. However before you call, it helps if you have the following information ready:

Most of our touring artists are local and available year-round but there are a few that have very limited availability. It helps if you have a few groups in mind that fit within your budget. If you need more information or help making a decision, please call us. We’re here to help.

Have a few possible dates available. The more options you have, the more likely we are to find something that will work with both your schedule and the artists’ schedule. Be sure to check your school’s master calendar for testing, holidays, and any other possible interruptions or school closures.

All assemblies are 45 minutes in length. Artists will need the full allotted time to complete the assembly.

Assembly capacities are either 350 or 500. Please note how many students will be attending each assembly to avoid overcapacity fees. We design the vast majority of our shows  with a K-12 audience in mind; however, there are a few exceptions that can be found in our artist directory.

If you are scheduling more than one assembly, please allow at least 10 minutes in between each show. Also try to avoid breaks of more than one hour between shows.

Please know the potential location of the assembly. Be sure to check on dimensions of the performance areas, floor surfaces and the availability of technical equipment like microphones and lighting. All of our artists’ technical requirements can be found in the performing artist directory pages.

Frequently Asked Questions

After you have collected the above information, please call us at (213) 972-4310 or use our online order form to place your request. A member of our staff will review the information with you and begin the process of confirming the artists’ availability. Once everything has been confirmed on our end, you will receive a verification of funding document that must be signed by you and your principal within two weeks of receipt. As soon as we receive the signed document, your performance is confirmed. We’ll send additional documents about two weeks before the performance and reconfirm the performance details. Then it’s show time!  We will send you an invoice after your last scheduled performance.

Yes, the Music Center can provide a certificate of insurance to an individual school, district or event. We normally will sign most school contracts and can provide you with a W9.

If you cancel an assembly less than 48 hours before a performance, the school or your organization will be billed for a single performance by that artist. Cancellations of more than 48 hours prior to the event will result in no penalty.

Yes we do! Please note that some artists charge evening/weekend fees and over capacity fees.

We don’t require a deposit. About a week after the performance, you’ll receive an invoice in the mail. You have 30 days to pay upon receipt of the invoice. We ask that you wait until you receive the invoice before you send payment.

No. However, many of our artists have videos on our website. If you need more specific information about an artist, please give us a call.

Absolutely! You can contact us at any point in the process with questions at (213) 972-4310 or performingartists@musiccenter.org. We’re always happy to help.
