Our Commitment to Your Safety

Our Commitment To Your Safety

Safety is our number one priority at The Music Center, and we promise to provide you the best, safest experience possible when you visit. With Our Commitment to Your Safety*, we enhance safety and minimize risk for our guests, artists, staff and volunteers who are visiting or working at The Music Center.

We work closely with both the State of California and the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health to implement safety guidelines and have embraced the highest standards of safety, sanitation and security. We will continually update campus procedures and protocols for both outdoor and indoor events and performances for our entry areas, lobbies, restrooms, seating areas, box office, stage and backstage, food and beverage preparation and the administrative offices for The Music Center organization and our resident companies, Center Theatre Group, the Los Angeles Master Chorale, LA Opera and LA Phil.

Please note that some protocols may be adjusted based on the nature of an event or performance.

Vaccination & Mask Policy Update

For Guests

As of 10/11/22

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health recommends all guests, 6 months and older to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19, however, vaccinations/boosters are no longer required for entry at Music Center performances, events and tours.

Masks are also strongly recommended although not required.

For Music Center Staff & Resident Companies

The Music Center staff and vendors must show proof of full vaccination, and starting on January 17, 2022, proof of a COVID-19 booster vaccine*, before accessing any of the buildings on our campus, including The Music Center Annex and Grand Park’s offices, subject to legally required exemptions. In addition, all Music Center artists and vendors, including those providing housekeeping, landscaping and any building-related services, must show proof of full vaccination and a booster if eligible. Our resident companies each have similar policies.

* In accordance with CDC recommendations, all adults 18 years of age and older must show proof of a booster vaccine if they are six months past their initial Pfizer or Moderna series or two months past their initial J&J vaccine.

What We Have Done

The Music Center is proud to be the first performing arts center and arts organization to receive the UL Verified Healthy Buildings Mark for Indoor Air and Water Quality. While we assess our air quality annually, working with our trusted partners, at UL, we embraced the new UL Verified Healthy Buildings program as part of our commitment to the health and wellbeing of all who visit or work at The Music Center. We made significant investments to upgrade the air flow and maximize circulation in all areas of The Music Center’s Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, Ahmanson Theatre, Mark Taper Forum and Walt Disney Concert Hall as well as The Music Center Annex and Grand Park’s offices.

To order to achieve the prestigious UL Verification Mark:

  • We participated in an independent review by UL of the heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems.
  • We passed UL visual inspections.
  • We passed IAQ performance testing and assessment.
  • We upgraded our HVAC systems, upgrading the air flow and maximizing recirculation times for the air coming through the complex.
  • We will participate in a bi-annual surveillance review to undergo rigorous IAQ performance criteria by UL.

We will continue testing and evaluation on an ongoing basis to confirm or meet UL’s strict standards and guidelines. When you visit The Music Center, you will see the Verified Healthy Building mark on the entrances to our buildings.

We have developed and implemented a Music Center-specific Enhanced Cleaning Program using EPA-approved COVID disinfectants with expedient cleaning of the entire campus. We pay special attention to areas where people gather including seated areas, elevators and restrooms, along with surfaces such as handrails, door handles, armrests and elevator buttons. We have also placed hand sanitizers throughout the campus including in Jerry Moss Plaza. We clean and sanitize seated areas after each performance and clean all restrooms pre- and post-performance.

All restrooms have touchless fixtures including touchless flush valves and faucets. In many cases, we offer digital tickets that are scanned for safe and efficient entry. All windows at permanent and remote box office locations feature glass or plexiglass partitions that separate guests and box office staff. We offer digital and printed programs; digital programs accessible on the night of the performance via text and/or a QR code.

If you have a question about these protocols, or require specific accommodation, please contact Guest Services at cvanbrunt@musiccenter.org before visiting The Music Center.

The Music Center is taking many steps and precautions to help ensure your safety. However, by visiting The Music Center, you voluntarily assume all risks related to possible exposure to COVID-19.

*Please note that conditions regarding the COVID-19 pandemic are fluid, and guidelines are subject to change at any time. To that end, The Music Center is prepared to adjust and embrace timely protocols based on what science and the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health directives dictate.
