The Blue Ribbon Mission
The Blue Ribbon is The Music Center’s premier women’s support organization and one of its largest donors. The Blue Ribbon has enriched the lives of the greater Los Angeles community through its commitment to arts education, volunteerism and financial support for The Music Center and its resident companies.
A Message from The Blue Ribbon President
It is my great pleasure to introduce you to The Blue Ribbon, the premier women’s support organization for The Music Center and one of its largest donors. For 54 years, the women of The Blue Ribbon have set the bar with their ongoing commitment to arts education, volunteerism and financial support for The Music Center and its resident companies.
Dorothy Chandler founded our organization in 1968 and her words still resonate: “A life without commitment, without dedication to a purpose beyond ourselves, and without a close partnership is only half a life.” One focus of our commitment is our beloved Blue Ribbon Children’s Festival. In March 2022, we will celebrate the 52nd anniversary of the festival. We are excited to once again welcome fifth graders to The Music Center to experience the joy of live performance.
My husband Jerry and I created a challenge grant to benefit two initiatives -- The Music Center’s Arts Fund and our own Children’s Festival Endowment. These funds will help create transformative arts experiences and ensure the future of the Blue Ribbon Children’s Festival for years to come.
Blue Ribbon members believe the performing arts are a true gift to humanity, especially in these challenging times. We wish to share that gift by providing financial support to The Music Center and its resident companies, and to the many programs that introduce Angelenos of all ages to the joy of music, dance, and theater. We encourage others to join our efforts.
I am so proud to carry on The Blue Ribbon’s legacy and honored to serve as president of this incredible organization.
President, The Blue Ribbon

Blue Ribbon members fully staff and fund the annual three-day Blue Ribbon Children's Festival, which brings 18,000 5th graders to The Music Center to experience live performance - many for the first time ever.
