Classic Journeys or Tableaux of Contents; The Heroic Climb of Itsy-Bitsy Spider
Storyteller David Novak draws his stories from classic myths, fables and well-known nursery rhymes. He plays with the story’s form and plot to find universal truths suggested by its symbols and images. Lessons include the process of storyboarding, creating ‘living photographs’ (tableaux) of selected scenes, as well as the technique for constructing ‘A Story String’ using objects that guide students in telling a personal story. Transformation, Enduring Values, and The Power of Nature are threaded throughout this heroic journey of Itsy-Bitsy Spider.
