As a Music Center Master Teaching Artist, Lynnanne, brings her passion for cultural folk dance to students of all ages and abilities. In her work she expresses joy, authenticity and acceptance. A featured dancer, singer and choreographer for the former AMAN International Folk Ensemble, she has years of experience as a performer and teacher. With her husband, Christopher Miller, an accomplished visual artist, tap dance instructor and choreographer, she also teaches Vernacular Jazz and vintage social partner dance in the community.
With a focus on the physical and social-emotional benefits, she includes dance elements, keen listening and observational skills, teamwork and community engagement. Her workshops feature dance and music from various regions of the world, and engage students in cultural background, geography, traditions, storytelling and folkcraft. Curricular connections to the History-Social Science and ELA Content Standards, the California Arts Standards, competencies from the SEL Framework and 21st Century Skills are inherently incorporated.
Additionally, Lynnanne is a vetted instructor for the Los Angeles County Arts Ed Collective, GRoW @ The Wallis outreach program in schools throughout Southern California. With over three decades of teaching experience, Lynnanne also creates thematic choreography for youth in theatrical productions, combining folk styles with contemporary dance. Since the 1990s she has participated in multiple professional development sessions for Teaching Artists, staying current on art education standards and pedagogy.
