Jennie Ford has an extensive Musical Theatre background. She has performed on Broadway and also served in the roles of dance captain and choreographer. Highly regarded by the Broadway community for coaching less experienced performers, she has written a series of “how-to” books entitled, Be the Best on Broadway.
Currently, on FOX network TV, she is choreographing for The Orville (Seth McFarlane’s show) and is working with Disney animators on Frozen 2, creating body movements for animated characters, as well as more detailed background animation.
Her teaching experience was inspired by working with her own daughter. She incorporates four different puppets in her work with children, each one having a unique personality and a strong interest in one of the four arts disciplines. In her lessons, she uses one or two of these characters to encourage students to become more engaged and confident.
Ms. Ford has been adjunct faculty for Studio School University in Los Angeles (Musical Theatre, Commercial Dance and General Education) and, using the California Visual and Performing Arts Standards, has taught musical theatre to kindergarteners at the Walt Disney Elementary School in Burbank. Ms. Ford is pleased to bring her skills as a performer and teaching artist to The Music Center roster. Working with students of all ages, she can also teach bilingually in English and French.
