The Music Center presented the world premiere of Miami City Ballet’s performance of an all-new Nutcracker to sold-out audiences in December 2017. The production pairs Balanchine’s iconic choreography and Tchaikovsky’s timeless score with whimsical sets and costumes designed by award-winning Cuban American artists Isabel and Ruben Toledo. The performances are presented with an impressive scale of more than 100 dancers and cast members, along with live orchestra, fully bringing to life the magic and spectacle that have delighted audiences for generations. To make this truly an L.A. experience, performances include student dancers from two L.A.-based arts academies - the Colburn School and The Gabriella Foundation’s everybody dance! program. In addition to the special “sweet deal,” tickets for regular-season performances, which run from November 30 - December 2, 2018, are on sale now at

The Miami Herald wrote, “Miami City Ballet’s refreshed ‘Nutcracker’ made for great theater and some terrific visuals with top notch dancing…” and the Los Angeles Times proclaimed “…the involvement of many different institutions — among them the Colburn School… added luster to the performance.”

“The Music Center is delighted to bring back George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker® by Miami City Ballet to Los Angeles and to offer a ‘sweet deal’ that makes it possible for even more Angelenos to see this incredible performance,” said Rachel Moore, president and CEO of The Music Center. “To celebrate the holidays is to celebrate the spirit of inclusiveness. With our partner Goldstar, The Music Center invites Angelenos to come together and share the wonder of the holiday season with the tradition of a magnificent Nutcracker production,” she added.

“This is a great opportunity to experience this holiday classic at one of Los Angeles’ most iconic institutions and with certainly one of the best companies in the world,” said Goldstar CEO Jim McCarthy. “We’re hoping that people will take advantage of this offer to connect with their friends and family for what will be an incredible special evening out.”
