About Our Teaching Artist
Kimiko Warner-Turner is a teaching artist, ensemble member of TeAda Productions, ballroom dance instructor, choreographer and restorative justice practitioner. She has made it her mission to create and perform pieces that can be enjoyed inside and outside the typical theatre’s proscenium arch. She has choreographed and directed youth in familiar plays such as Mulan, Seussical Jr., Into the Woods, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Alice and Wonderland.
Kimiko has directed original plays and musicals which have been produced in Los Angeles, Edinburgh, and Thailand. She has also designed educational theatre programs for Center Theatre Group and Shakespeare Center Los Angeles. She is dedicated to teaching a variety of Liberation Arts techniques that include Image, Forum, and Newspaper Theatre, incorporating visual arts techniques. She is currently a teaching artist for The Music Center, and has worked for The Wallis Performing Arts Center, ArtworxLA, and Dancing Classrooms Los Angeles for grades 5-12.
