In-Person Dance Returns to The Music Center with Dance at Dusk!

Experience the rhythmical charm and powerful motion of tap dance with three of the world’s most influential tap dancers! The Super Villainz: A Tap Dance Act for the Modern Age makes its Music Center debut featuring the dynamism of Dormeshia, Jason Samuels Smith and Derick K. Grant who together create the ultimate unity between music and motion. Set to live music performed by a Jazz trio, the performances highlight the improvisational skill, choreography and artistry of these American ambassadors of tap.

Five Live Performances on Jerry Moss Plaza, Four Simulcasts in Grand Park and One Livestream

The centerpiece of the presentation features selections from Dormeshia’s And Still You Must Swing, a “stellar” (New York Times) work that captures the heart and legacy of tap dance and honors the influence of the Jazz roots of this outstanding art form. The program also includes excerpts from Smith’s Going the Miles, an homage to Jazz legend Miles Davis, a musical odyssey that celebrates the diversity of contributions from two of the world’s most thriving African American artforms.

All events are outdoors. Tickets are available for the live on-stage experience in seated socially distanced pods on Jerry Moss Plaza at The Music Center and for the performance simulcast in socially distanced pods (lawn seating with blankets encouraged) in Grand Park.

In addition to the performances, aspiring dancers and dance fans will not want to miss as Jerry Moss Plaza transforms into The Super Villainz Tap Dance Park from May 24-30, 2021, to celebrate National Tap Dance Day! Click here to learn more.

Programming, artists, dates and seating are subject to change.
