Versa-Style Dance Company
L.A. County Holiday Celebration Featured Performers

About
For over 15 years, Versa-Style Dance Company has promoted the empowerment, artistry and value of Hip Hop and street dance culture through full-length Hip Hop dance theater productions, educational performances and deeply rooted community-building work in the barrios of Los Angeles. Founded in 2005 by L.A. natives Jackie “Miss Funk” Lopez and Leigh “Breeze-Lee” Foaad, the two have been guest choreographers for Santa Monica College, L.A. Valley College, Columbia College in Chicago, University of Nevada at Las Vegas and University of Utah. Lopez and Foaad served as cultural ambassadors for the U.S. through the Arts Envoy Cultural Exchange Program in which they were able to perform, teach and lecture in countries such as Israel, Egypt, India, Dominican Republic and Colombia. They danced and won numerous competitive titles in countries such as Korea, Italy, Canada and France. In addition, the two choreographers’ story takes center stage in the documentary Furious Beauty. Recently, Lopez and Foaad were awarded a Lester Horton Artist Appreciation Award presented by the Dance Resource Center in June 2015. Currently, they are both adjunct lecturers for UCLA’s World Arts and Cultures/Dance department teaching Hip Hop dance technique.
