Holiday Celebration FAQs

Q: When is the 60th Annual L.A. County Holiday Celebration?
A: The 60th Annual L.A. County Holiday Celebration takes place on Tuesday, December 24, 2019, from 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Q: Where does the Holiday Celebration take place?
A: The Holiday Celebration takes place at The Music Center’s Dorothy Chandler Pavilion at 135 North Grand Avenue, Los Angeles, 90012.

Q: How much are tickets to the Holiday Celebration?
A: The Holiday Celebration is FREE for all, but a wristband is required for entry.

Q: What is the wristband for?
A: The wristband guarantees entry to the Holiday Celebration without requiring you to stand in a line.  Instead, you can explore the Plaza Wonderland on The Music Center’s new Plaza instead of waiting in line.  Your wristband will give you a group letter.  You will be admitted to the theater when your group letter is called.  Please watch the large Plaza screens for your letter; we will also be making announcements.

Q: Where do I get a wristband?
A: Upon arrival to The Music Center on December 24, please proceed to either the general admission line on the Hope Street side of the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion (the theatre where the show takes place) or to the “wristband table” on the Grand Street side of the Mark Taper Forum (the theater located opposite the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion) to receive your wristband.

Q: Can I get a wristband before the Holiday Celebration?
A: No, wristbands are only available on-site at the event.

Q: Can I get wristbands for my friends and family?
A: Yes, we will provide wristbands for your friends and family. There is no limit to how many; however, please make sure your guests arrive for your group seating time, which will be noted on your wristbands.

Q: How do the wristbands work?
A: Each wristband will include a specific group letter (A-Z). When seating for your group begins, your group letter will be announced and projected on the large Plaza screens. At that time, please proceed to the general admission line on the Hope Street side of the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. You will then be ushered into the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion and seated in a timely manner. If you and your group miss your seating time, you will be placed in the next seating group.

Q: When should I arrive for entrance to the Holiday Celebration?
A: Receiving a wristband and actual seating is first come, first served. Doors to The Music Center’s Dorothy Chandler Pavilion open at 2:30 p.m.; however, a line on the Hope Street side of The Music Center Plaza starts forming at roughly 9:00 a.m.

Q: Can I bring a chair for waiting in line?
A: Setting up chairs in line is prohibited.

Q: Are food and drinks available?
A: Yes.  Food is available for sale at Upstage Burger on the Plaza Level on the corner of 1st Street and Grand Avenue adjacent to the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion from 11:30 a.m.- 6:00 p.m. The Dorothy Chandler Pavilion Intermission Bars will be open outside at noon and inside all throughout the performance from 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. with full food and beverage options. For coffee and snacks, Go Get Em Tiger, located outside on The Music Center Plaza, will be open from noon – 3:00 p.m. Tamales will be available under the Abernethy’s restaurant awning from noon- 5:00 p.m. Also, the Lobby Bars and Oval Bar at The Music Center's Dorothy Chandler Pavilion will be open with drinks and snacks for sale.

Q: Can I leave and re-enter the Holiday Celebration?
A: Yes, you can leave and re-enter the Holiday Celebration; however, if you leave, you must obtain a new wristband and wait for re-entry.

Q: Is there ADA accessibility during the event?
A: Yes, accommodations for guests with disabilities can be requested by emailing The Music Center ADA Compliance Officer, Carolyn Van Brunt, cvanbrunt@musiccenter.org, or by calling the recorded access assistance line at 213.972.0777 to leave a voice-mail request.

Q: What if I can’t make it to the Holiday Celebration?  Is there some way to watch it?
A: Yes, the Holiday Celebration is broadcast live on PBS SoCal December 24, 2019, from 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.  There will be with encore presentations on PBS SoCal on December 24, at 9:00 p.m. and December 25 at 3:00 a.m.  The show will also be rebroadcast on PBS SoCal 2 on December 25 at 3:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m., December 26 at 11:00 a.m. and on KCET on December 25 at noon and 7:00 p.m. The Holiday Celebration is also streamed live on pbssocal.org and kcet.org.
