Enjoy a free poetry jam weaving together spoken word, dance and music at The Music Center’s Love Amplified Poetry Jam! View a free screening of the short film Black is Beautiful, followed by performances by Terrell “The Artist” Lewis, poet Sean Hill, as well as spoken word artists who will accompany youth organizations WriteGirl and Get Lit. Love Amplified Poetry Jam also features dancers drawing from multiple styles accompanying the poetry, including from UniverSOUL Hip Hop and USC’s Glorya Kaufman School of Dance, with live music by Everything Raw.
Presented in collaboration with Complexions Co-Founder and Artistic Director Dwight Rhoden, Terrell “The Artist” Lewis and Tiffany Bong of UniverSOUL Hip Hop.

Tiffany "Jimini" Bong
Tiffany "Jimini" Bong is the assistant professor of practice and founding director of Kaufman Connections and The Cypher Summit at the USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance. She is an international, award-winning Hip-Hop dance artist, educator, entrepreneur, leader and Music Center Teaching Artist.
An emerging free-style platform for L.A.’s dance and live music community with an emphasis on the relationship of live dance and live music creation and improvisation.
Sam Luo is the 2023 YoungArts Winner for Spoken Word and a semifinalist for the U.S. Presidential Scholar of the Arts.
Jasmine Minchez is an 18-year-old poet of proud Guatemalan heritage. She has performed for Mindy Kaling, Debbie Allen, California State Senator Ben Allen and hundreds of teens in schools across L.A. She is the latest host of the Get Lit Minute podcast.
Raul Herrera, Jr.
Raul Herrera, Jr. is a Mexican-American playwright, educator and spoken word artist who has been involved with Get Lit - Words Ignite for over 10 years, helping empower youth through the arts.
Milissa Sutton is a 16-year-old spoken word poet who has been a WriteGirl mentee for two years. She was a finalist in the 2022 Los Angeles Youth Poet Laureate competition.
Jazzmin Joya is an 18-year-old WriteGirl alum who is currently studying English and Business at the University of California, Berkeley.
Rhiann Sheffie is a WriteGirl mentee, poet and first-year student at Cal State Long Beach majoring in English: Creative Writing and minoring in Theatre Arts.
Shandela Contreras is a Los Angeles-based poet and WriteGirl alum. Author of the chapbook Mellow Ballads, that move your bones (2021), Shandela was a California Youth Poet Laureate finalist in 2023, and an ambassador and finalist in the Los Angeles Youth Poet Laureate competition in 2022.
Victoria Rosales is an 18-year-old musician and proud WriteGirl Alum. She fell in love with writing at a young age, as well as literature and music. She is honored to be a part of the WriteGirl family, enthusiastic to create more music and actively striving to be her most free-spirited self.
