The second Blue Ribbon 50th Anniversary Celebration was an exclusive dress rehearsal of Israel in Egypt with the LA Master Chorale. Composed in 1739 by George Handel, Israel in Egypt, is one of only two oratorios by Handel with a text compiled from verses from the Bible, the other being the more famous, Handel’s Messiah. The exquisite performance, featuring orchestra, an 80-voice choir, and seven soloists, was enhanced by Syrian-Armenian visual artist Kevork Mourad. Mourad created a compelling blend of drawing, animation and film in real-time from the stage. After the rehearsal, members were escorted through the backstage of the Walt Disney Concert Hall to a reception in Choral Hall. Jean Davidson, President and CEO of the LA Master Chorale, introduced Mourad who shared fascinating stories with our members and their guests.
