After an exciting year of events, the 50th Anniversary celebrations culminated at the General Meeting, with The Blue Ribbon prominently showcased on large presentation panels around the Eva and Marc Stern Grand Hall of the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. Members were welcomed in the lobby with music from Mariachi Reyna de Los Angeles, followed by an overview of the Plaza remodel, which will include a new Blue Ribbon Garden. At the luncheon, government commendations acknowledging our 50 years of support were unveiled and a slide show presentation featured photos from all the 50th events. Two of the original members in attendance, Joanne Kozberg and Jackie Rosenberg, were recognized for their part in helping Dorothy Chandler create our special support organization.
Treasured member Connie Gavin was honored as our 2018 Blue Ribbon Woman of the Year, which included a special video tribute showcasing her many talents and accomplishments. This Celebration of Support event also included the presentation of The Blue Ribbon’s annual gifts to Music Center and resident company leadership, and a performance by Joseph Silva, The Music Center’s 2017 Spotlight Non-Classical Voice finalist, who serenaded members with ballad standards, accompanied by Ryan Whyman on piano.
