A very special Blue Ribbon Day at the LA Phil was planned for the 50th Anniversary celebration. Members and their guests were provided the unique opportunity to see Gustavo Dudamel rehearse the orchestra through the world premiere of Pollux, created by Esa-Pekka Salonen. The day started with a reception in the Founders Room of the Walt Disney Concert Hall where members met the LA Phil’s new Chief Executive Officer, Simon Woods. Members were then treated to three incredible performances by alumni students of the Youth Orchestra LA (YOLA), Moses Aubrey, Edson Natareno and Dameon Williams, followed by a Q&A moderated by Chad Smith, Chief Operating Officer for the LA Phil. After the luncheon, members were escorted into the auditorium for the exclusive dress rehearsal.
