Shiri Goldsmith Graziani has performed and toured domestically and internationally since 2003. After receiving her B.A. in Anthropology from San Francisco State University, she spent years doing gigs at such places as the Monterey Jazz Festival, and countless other venues up and down the West Coast. Most recently, she performed with The Squirrel Nut Zippers - a musical group that had inspired her in her youth. With her own group - Shiri and the Shiribims - she is the vocalist, trombonist and front woman. This group has been awarded Art and Culture grants from Glendale and Pasadena. Since 2011, she has been teaching in classrooms and after school programs. After seven years working in schools up in the Bay Area, she studied Kodaly Music Teachers Pre-Certification Levels 1 and 2, which led her to delve further into Early Education Music Instruction. She is a Level 1 Iyengar Certified Yoga Teacher and works as a music and yoga instructor in public and private schools throughout the LA area. Shiri is also a teaching artist for Aimee Arts Productions and The Music Center of Los Angeles County.
In her classes, music is not just something that is listened to. Rather, students create and experience music as a collaborative community. She guides them to experience music in their bodies through movement, singing and playing age-appropriate instruments - such as egg shakers, rhythm sticks and open tuning ukuleles. Students learn about fundamental music concepts such as Steady Beat, Tempo, Dynamics, Melody and Rhythm. She guides them in using these concepts to make appropriate musical choices. Students will express themselves with music, work together as a team, reinforce all of the SEL and California Arts Standards - and have fun while doing it!
