Arts Integration Partnerships

The Music Center works with schools and districts to design and implement quality arts education for all the students and teachers it serves.

Partnering for Impact

The Music Center seeks to maximize the impact, value, and sustainability of our work. This model is our Arts Integration Partnership (AIP). The cornerstones of the AIP are intensive professional development and focused classroom support. This work is implemented through a close partnership between the classroom teacher and the teaching artist, optimizing their respective areas of expertise.

The AIP's overarching goal is alignment: Alignment between the skills, knowledge, and values of teachers, principals, and district leaders committed to quality arts learning.

Partnering for Engagement

Through in-depth partnerships spanning kindergarten through twelfth grade, we aim to build, test, and share pathways through which arts education promotes student and family engagement and supports academic achievement in low-income, underserved schools and communities.

Partnering for Success

The Music Center focuses its efforts in schools and across entire districts with a shared commitment to this vision. Our core criteria for partnering embrace four determinants of high-quality student learning outcomes: participation, access, content, and resources.

  • All teachers participate; school and district leaders actively partner; parents contribute. All receive appropriate professional development and support.

  • All students gain access to quality arts learning.

  • Our programs are aligned with the Visual and Performing Arts Standards, the Common Core State Standards, and focused on developing 21st Century learning skills, including creativity, critical thinking, communication, and collaboration.

  • Community arts resources are utilized in a strategic and coordinated manner, with a focus on supplementing school resources and leveraging greater school capability for arts instruction.

School and district partners are expected to make a meaningful financial commitment towards support of this partnership. The exact amounts vary, depending on school and district goals. School and district financial commitments may include paying stipends or release time for participating teachers.
