After graduating from Oberlin College in 1985 with a degree in Spanish she went on to train for 5 years at The American Mime Theatre in New York City under the tutelage of Paul Curtis. In New York, she performed such diverse roles as the acrobatic singing angel in the mime musical, Ezekiel, the title role in Miss Julie and delivered a moving performance as Sarah, a Polish Jewish immigrant in Histoires d’Amerique, a film by Belgian director, Chantal Ackerman.

A gifted teacher and performer, Diskin has taught workshops and master classes in Physical Theatre and Mime throughout the U.S., including at Cornell University, the Segerstrom Center for the Arts, the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, Disney Animation Studios, and various cultural institutions in Europe and Asia.
