After the preliminary auditions, the judges narrow the field in each category to fifteen semifinalists. These students are invited to special master classes with leading professionals who offer insight on performance technique, training, and professional life. Many students comment that the chance to work with such outstanding artists is one of the highlights of the Spotlight Awards program. Whenever possible, other students are invited to sit in on the master classes to share the benefits of this unique learning experience.

Performing Arts Semifinal Auditions

From January to March, the semifinalists return to audition before another panel of expert judges. Each audition day concludes with a special reception for the students and their families where the two finalists in each category are announced. Each semifinalist receives a scholarship in recognition of his/her achievements in the program.
