SPOTLIGHT AWARDS

The Online Educator Network (OEN) is part of the Professional Development Program of the Music Center. OEN aims to use the Web to help educators bring the arts into the classroom. The goal of this pilot project is to help educators apply concepts and skills gained from Music Center programs to their classroom practice.

Below are some funders and their areas of support to assist educators and administrators in expanding professional development and school programs.

General Grants

  • LAUSD's Grant Assistance Unit
    Teachers can use this LAUSD Web site to research online funding sources, read about project development and learn how to write a grant.

  • National Education Association's Grants and Publications
    Grants for professional development opportunities for public school teachers, support personnel, faculty and staff.

  • SchoolGrants.org: Rocky Mountain/Pacific Coast Grant Opportunities

  • California Deparment of Education's Funding for Arts Education
    The Visual and Performing Arts program, within the California Department of Education, compiled this list of funding opportunities that can support schools as they incorporate the arts in their classrooms.

  • The "Power of Creativity" Community Arts Education Award
    Sponsored by Americans for the Arts and Crayola, this initiative honors and recognizes exemplary arts education partnerships in local communities across the United States. A total of $50,000 will be awarded to organizations (up to 10) to enable the enhancement of existing visual arts education programs.

  • Los Angeles County Office of Education
    Teachers can use the LACOE site to locate their districts' Web sites in order to research funding opportunities.

  • Target Arts in Education Grants
    These grants are given to schools and nonprofit organizations to help students better understand and appreciate art and music or to explore, experience and create visual art, music and drama.
