Nomination Process

Do you know a teacher or school that uses the arts to inspire learning? The Music Center's Bravo Awards wants to know these champions for arts education to support their work and celebrate excellence in Los Angeles County schools.

The nomination may be from any ONE of the four categories:

• General Education Teacher
• Arts Specialists Teacher
• Overall School
• School Program

 

Application Process

Letter of Intent
Agreement to participate in all four Professional Learning Community Workshops at the Music Center. You must also agree to participate in the peer review and professional coach/mentoring processes and attend the culminating event at Walt Disney Concert Hall.

One Page Questionnaire
The questionnaire is intended to capture demographic information that will assist the Bravo Leadership Committee in assessing your qualifications for participating in the cohort. It will also help us to create a diverse community which reflects the four art forms, secondary and elementary education and also reflect the broader Los Angeles County community.

Principal's Letter of Support
The letter from your principal is more than a recommendation. The letter should state that the principal will give a release day to observe a Bravo winning school or teacher as part of your participation in the program. It should also state that your principal will support your efforts to continue your leadership within the school and/or district in ways that support teacher collaboration and building professional learning communities around student learning in your arts discipline.

 

Community & Leadership Workshops

Once the application process is complete, candidates will work together in four workshops to build community and leadership. The process will give candidates the opportunity to establish their own Professional Learning Community, create on-line portfolios, reflect upon their teaching practice, receive feedback from a peer coach, visit peer classrooms, and review candidate portfolios.

 

Awards Ceremony

The ceremony will take place at the Walt Disney Concert Hall at the Music Center where winners in the four categories will receive special recognition and cash awards.
