"The Music Center's Bravo Award process gave me and the entire Coeur d'Alene community an incredible opportunity to spend almost a year focusing on our vision for arts integration within our school community. An education that encompasses and respects the wonderful diversity of people and cultures in the nation is possible only when it includes the arts." The winning of the Music Center's Bravo Award in the school category became a powerful public awareness process that helped the entire Coeur d'Alene community focus more and create a long-term community vision for arts integration - while at the same time helping us in education focus more on assessment and interdisciplinary approaches."

Garry Marshall & Linda Candib Charles Helmers Elementary School - Saugus USD "Winning the 2007 Bravo Award is the most rewarding affirmation of what I do in the classroom. It confirms my belief that if we follow our passions, we will succeed. What I have discovered for my students is that the arts inspire and open us to new experiences and ways to see the world. Our students find new ways to learn and to express themselves and learn to be free and open, accepting, and aware. The Bravo experience has allowed me the chance to reflect on these experiences and expand my teaching in new and inspiring ways. Thanks for this amazing opportunity."

"Receiving the Bravo Award has been one of the highlights of my teaching career. It has had personal and professional repercussions too many to include, but here are a few:
It has solidified my standing in my community and validated people's trust in me as an exemplary arts educator. It has fortified my resolve to advocate for arts education, to continue to refine my teaching and ground my instructional units in the music standards, and to deepen my connection to my colleagues. I am honored and humbled to have been this year's Bravo recipient, and I am grateful for all the good people behind it!"

BRAVO AWARD
Established in 1982, The BRAVO Award recognizes teachers and schools for excellence in the arts. Each year, the Music Center presents three BRAVO Awards — one to a general classroom teacher, one to an arts specialist and one to a school. Winners receive a cash award along with a specially-created sculpture. The BRAVO is awarded at a gala dinner sponsored by Club 100 of the Music Center and hosted by celebrity writer/director/producer Garry Marshall.
