| John Zeretzke
Assembly:
A World of Music takes the audience on a fantastical voyage of sight, sound and knowledge as the performance explores musical instruments from around the world. Award-winning artist/educator, composer and world musician John Zeretzke serves as guide and teacher as he shows how to use ancient nomadic double reed shawms, a Hungarian goat-shaped bagpipe and other instruments, including the electric-computerized Steinberger 5-string violin, and explores aspects of music from early civilizations to the present. Connections to modern day band, orchestral and popular instruments are highlighted. Cultural and historical information is woven into this magical, musical journey. Performances are highly engaging as well as interactive; student participation is encouraged. This unique presentation offers a one-of-a-kind perspective of the world of musical instruments!
Ojai composer and musician John Zeretzke has written numerous ballet and dance scores. His scores have been performed live at the Aspen Music Festival, Madison Square Garden, Rockefeller Center, Peabody Conservatory of Music and with the United States Marine Band Percussion Ensemble in Washington D.C.
