A native of Japan, Kuniko Yamamoto has become nationally recognized for her enchanting tales of Japanese culture and moral perspective. In this captivating performance, charming folktales are combined with traditional musical instruments, magical masks, origami and mime to create storytelling that will have audience spellbound in their seats. The stories are performed with audience interaction and participation. Lose yourself in the compelling storytelling that Kuniko brings from her native Japan to our very own Music Center stage.Become entranced by the powerful rhythms of On Ensemble's taiko drum beats. On Ensemble (pronounced 'Ohn') takes the ancient instruments of taiko into new realms. Infusing the powerful rhythms of ensemble Japanese drumming with elements of hip-hop, rock and electronica, On Ensemble's unique sound has been praised as “completely original and brilliantly conceived.” On Ensemble performs regularly in concert halls, theaters, and outdoor venues throughout the United States and Canada. Since the group's inception in 2002, On Ensemble has presented sold-out performances to audiences in intimate, 100-seat spaces like La Chapelle in Montreal, to larger venues like the 1400-seat Cerritos Center in southern California. On Ensemble's dynamic performances appeal to adventurous, curious, music-loving audiences of all ages. To complement the performances, the Music Center offers pre- & post-family workshops in the adjacent Blue Ribbon Garden. The first show is at 11:00 am with a repeat performance at 12:30 pm. All performances subject to change. Free Tickets: All tickets are free and are distributed on Grand Avenue at 2nd Street. Tickets for 11:00am performance distributed beginning at 10:00am.
