The Music Center celebrates the fifth season of the highly acclaimed World City performance series featuring internationally renowned artists sharing their culture through dance, music, song and storytelling. The events take place on select Saturdays at 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. and are free to the public. In addition to performances, free arts workshops for children are offered. Tickets are distributed starting at 10 a.m. on the day of the event.

Grand Avenue, Downtown Los Angeles, World City opened its fifth season with the exquisite Rangoli Dance Company on September 15. The series continues on October 13 with the mesmerizing ensemble of throat singers from Tuva, Huun-Huur-Tu along with Chaksampa Tibetan Dance and Opera Company. Additional performers include Inca Son, Git-Hoan Dancers, Junebug/Carolina Chocolate Drops, Salaam Ensemble/Hahbi' Ru, Taiwan Acrobatic Troupe and Mariachi Los Camperos de Nati Cano/Ensambles Ballet Folklorico de San Francisco.

World City boasts an impressive roster of artists from around the world and many of the performers this season are making their Music Center debut with Taiwan Acrobatic Troupe being presented for the first time on the West Coast.

Each month a particular culture is featured through the performances of one or more companies. The post-event art workshops offer attendees a chance to participate in the creative process with simple, hands-on art activities focused on the cultural theme of that day. "Our objective is to give families quality experiences that leave enduring impressions of each culture's contribution to the world's artistic heritage" states Barbara Leonard, Artistic Director, Music Center Education.

Support for World City provided by grants from the Weingart Foundation, the Julia Stearns Dockweiler Foundation, the Los Angeles County Arts Commission, The Kenneth T. & Eileen Norris Foundation, and the Peter and Merle Mullin Endowment Fund.
