For Immediate Release: April 5, 2007

Quarterly Series of Talks in Walt Disney Concert Hall Garden Offer FREE Tips, Insight and Advice from Gardening and Landscaping Professionals

Los Angeles - The Music Center of Los Angeles County and Estate Gardens by ValleyCrest announce the second season of The Urban Garden Talks, a free quarterly series scheduled from June 2007 through March 2008. The talks take place in the W.M. Keck Foundation Children's Amphitheatre at Walt Disney Concert Hall and begin at 12 p.m.

The Urban Garden Talks is a series of informative talks led by hand-selected experts designed to provide everyone from garden aficionados to curious beginners with tips on creating and maintaining healthy and vibrant home gardens. Each talk in the series features a different topic in garden design and maintenance and includes a tour of the garden which is located at the Music Center's Walt Disney Concert Hall and is an oasis in the bustling urban landscape of downtown Los Angeles. The tour explores the nearly 1-acre garden, its 45 blooming trees, and 15-ton Delftware, rose-shaped fountain.

The second season of The Urban Garden Talks include Roses for the Urban Landscape with Clair Martin, Shannon Curator of Rose & Perennial Gardens, Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens on June 13, 2007; Edible Ornamentals with Brian Helgoe, general manager of Estate Gardens by ValleyCrest on September 12, 2007; Holiday Garden Gifts with Brian Helgoe on December 12, 2007; and California Native Plants on March 12, 2008 (speaker to be announced).

"The response to our first season of The Urban Garden Talks was great and we happily are continuing the program with an exciting new series of talks." states Brian Helgoe, general manager of Estate Gardens by ValleyCrest.

"We found that gardening enthusiasts enjoyed having the Walt Disney Concert Hall as a backdrop and took advantage of the opportunity to learn how a vibrant and thriving garden grows in Downtown L.A."

"It's exciting for the Music Center to partner with Estate Gardens by ValleyCrest and offer a program that takes advantage of the beautiful garden atop Walt Disney Concert Hall," comments Catherine Babcock, Music Center Vice President, Marketing and Communications. "We are proud of the fact that at the Music Center you can hear Mozart, see American Ballet Theatre, Jersey Boys or The Merry Widow and learn when to prune your roses!"
