The Music Center one of the nation's premier performing arts institutions located in Downtown Los Angeles seeks a professional to serve in the role of securing annual gifts in the range of $25,000 to $1 million range.
Reporting to the Vice President for Development the successful candidate will be directly responsible for managing a portfolio of 150 major gift prospects; conducting research and establish contacts to further develop prospects; research data for proposal development; work with the President, Vice President and other members to develop strategies for solicitation; will establish and meet goals in alignment with Music Center priorities, oversee volunteers and respective fundraising efforts; draft, prepare and present proposals for major gifts prospects, foundations and corporations; work closely and effectively with staff to ensure timely and accurate maintenance of all gift, solicitation and donor information ensuring tracking and fulfillment of pledges, donor recognition activities. Receipting and timely acknowledgments.
The qualified candidate must posses Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; advance degree preferred; 5 plus years of directly-related progressively responsible work experience with a proven record of successful cultivation and solicitation of large gifts; demonstrated working knowledge of all areas of fundraising with particular emphasis on major gifts; experience in the cultural and academic arts a plus; exceptional communications skills (verbal and written) including demonstrated success in writing proposals, acknowledgement letters and stewardship reports; highly organized with demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize, implement tasks and work effectively in a complex, dynamic environment; computer proficiency required with experience with Millennium Database or equivalent donor software is highly desirable; flexible work schedule with the ability to work evenings and weekend; travel mostly within So. California area.
Salary range $72,000 to $80,000 commensurate with experience; compensation package includes health (employee company paid medical/HMO, dental and vision coverage) and welfare benefits, vacation and sick days, 401(k) plan with employer contribution, plus more.

| Prospect Research Analyst |

The Music Center, a premier performing arts institution located in Downtown Los Angeles, has an immediate opening for a Prospect Research Analyst.
Reporting to the Associate Vice President, Development the successful candidate will conduct research to assist the Development staff in the collection and dissemination of information on prospective donors.
Will assess and summarize data from numerous sources; compose a variety of prospect profile, summaries and briefings including financial capacity, inclination and philanthropic interest of individuals, corporations and foundations; identify potential opportunities; coordinate flow of information in and out of database; and recommend cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies.
Requirements and skills include Bachelor's Degree and relevant work experience preferably in cultural organization; Master's degree a plus. One to three years of prospect research or equivalent experience is required, preferably within arts environment. Candidates must possess excellent critical thinking skills as well as ability to organize, analyze, and interpret business and financial data. Highly organized and detail-oriented, effective multi-tasker to work unfazed within tight deadlines. Excellent writing skills. Proficiency in Microsoft office applications: Word, Excel and Access. Experience with Millenium or equivalent database/donor management software preferred.
Compensation package includes salary range of $50,000 to $55,000.00 commensurate with experience; company paid health benefits (medical/HMO, dental and vision) and welfare benefits (life insurance and long-term disability insurance); paid time off (vacation, sick leave and paid holiday's), 401(k) plan with employer contribution, plus more.

| Staff Accountant |

Reporting to the Controller the successful candidate is responsible for accounting for fixed assets and for assisting in the preparation of the organizational budget. Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities will include the following for Capital Expenditures: Maintain Access database of facility fee projects; reconcile database to general ledger on a monthly basis; generate and track facility fee memos to four Resident Companies requesting joint approval for expenditures; prepare journal entries to record facility fee spending by Resident Company on a monthly basis; prepare periodic reports to Resident Companies on facility fee activity and balances; assist in integration of Great Plains accounts payable and fixed asset modules; maintain fixed asset module, including generation of monthly depreciation entries; maintain fixed asset files. Organizational Budget: Assist in preparation of organization budget; enter organizational budget into Great Plains; review and analyze actual expenditures versus budget on a monthly basis; assist in preparation of budgets for grant applications.
Desired Skills and Qualifications include: Proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook, and Access; excellent written and verbal communication skills; Bachelor's Degree in accounting or business from a 4- year college or university; knowledge of Great Plains Accounting System a big plus, relative internship, part - or full- time experience; strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with all levels of personnel; ability to work well under pressure; conscientious of deadlines; must have strong attention to detail.
