With a charter to plan and sponsor educational, cultural and social activities, The Blue Ribbon has contributed more than $68 million to the Music Center over the course of its forty year history. Blue Ribbon members come from all areas of Los Angeles County and each member is an important community advocate and leader in her own field.
| Tenets of The Blue Ribbon |
Commitment
Blue Ribbon members make an annual contribution of $2,500 to support both the Music Center's resident companies and its arts education and community programs.
Service
Blue Ribbon members fully staff the Annual Blue Ribbon Children's Festival, which brings almost 20,000 fifth graders to the Music Center every year - many for the first time ever. Many members say working the Festival is their favorite event of the year.
Friendship
Many friends made in Blue Ribbon become lifelong friends. Members meet each other and their families through the variety of stimulating activities planned throughout the year, including:
- The Other Side of the Curtain - an annual series of exclusive talks with artistic leadership and artists at the Music Center's resident companies
- The Blue Ribbon Sampler Series - an easy way to "sample" the offerings of the Music Center's resident companies.
- Exclusive looks and behind-the-scenes tours of public and private art collections across Los Angeles
- The Blue Ribbon Small Board Lunches - (every other year) Board members all over Los Angeles host fellow Blue Ribbon members for lunch and conversation.
- Other events vary in range from fashion shows to restaurant openings and family-friendly outings to seminars on women's health and finance.
Any current Blue Ribbon member may propose a candidate for membership; however, membership is by invitation of The Blue Ribbon Board of Directors only. To learn more about applying or to receive a membership packet, please contact Erin Haley, Assistant Director of Membership and Communications, at (213) 972-3348 or ehaley@musiccenter.org.
