Snare Drum Choir (Downtown Los Angeles)
Paradiddle? Flam-tap? Triplet? Ready to get your drum chops back?
Re-connect with the language of drumming and join a snare drum workshop series exploring the diversity of sounds created using sticks, mallets, brushes, and hands. Re-discover the building blocks of rudiments, rhythm, reading, and more. Tune in to the power of the metronome and add your voice to the drum choir.
GYCB Snare Drum Choir is for adult non-professional musicians with prior percussion experience. Familiarity with reading music is helpful but not required. If you currently play or have played snare drum, drum set or other percussion, these workshops will expand your drumming abilities and awareness. Kindly bring your own snare drum and stand (no marching drums please), as well as a music stand.

SKIN ON SKINS for SNARE DRUM CHOIR 2010
Composed by Ed Barguiarena
Here's an example of one of the compositions you will study in the Snare Drum Choir. This piece uses your hands to explore the sound of a snare drum. The music is written with varying degrees of difficulty: easy, intermediate and advanced. SKIN ON SKINS highlights how simple rhythms can come together to create a complex result.
