Assistant Director, Support Organizations October 09, 2009
The Music Center, Performing Arts Center of Los Angeles County, one of the nation's premier performing arts institutions located in Downtown Los Angeles, seeks a professional to serve in the role of coordinating special events logistics and planning.

Reporting to the Director, Support Organizations, the Assistant Director, Support Organizations is responsible for the management and coordination of special events and fundraising projects for one or more Music Center support organization as determined and assigned by the Director. In addition, the Assistant Director will also have responsibility for the coordination of department-wide events such as a large scale bi-annual fundraiser.

The Assistant Director will serve as a liaison between one or more support organizations and the Music Center leadership, oversees the annual event budget, appropriately prepares allocations and expenditures, and performs other duties as assigned.

Duties include, but are not limited to: Establishing and maintaining positive contact with the members and volunteer leadership of the support organizations; coordinating a variety of events for the support organization membership and other Music Center donors (special events may include coordinating the annual fundraising gala dinners for the Spotlight Awards, Bravo Awards or coordinating Dance related cultivation and stewardship events); assisting in securing sponsors and other donors to fund the various programs; and working with the Assistant Director of Membership and Communications to arrange meetings and events for prospective new members and support organization leadership.

Required skills and qualifications include: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience with a minimum of 2 -3 years event planning experience. Prior experience in special events fundraising preferred. Excellent computer and communications skills to produce correspondence and solicitation materials on behalf of the organization. Excellent interpersonal skills; diplomacy and tact. Attention to detail. Knowledge of Southern California corporate and/or philanthropic community a plus.

Salary range: $38,000.00 - $45,000.00 Compensation package includes health (employee company paid medical/HMO, dental and vision coverage) and welfare benefits, vacation and sick days, 401(k) plan with employer contribution.

PT-Founder's Room Host September 30, 2009
Reporting to the Administrator of Donor Relations and Volunteer Services the position greets and assists guests to the Music Center's Founders Rooms. Responsibilities include but are not limited to taking dinner reservations and intermission reservations.

Required skills and qualifications include: A high school diploma; some college or university (preferred); two to three years experience as a restaurant host/hostess, maître'd or training in a customer service-related assignment; impeccable interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with all levels of personnel; excellent sense of diplomacy is essential to be successful in this position. The ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment; excellent communication and customer service skills.

Successful candidate must adhere to conservative dress code and maintain good grooming standard; no visible body art or piercings will be allowed. Must be able to work flexible schedule to include evenings, weekends, and holidays this is a part time position. Salary for this position is $15.00 per hour.

Director of Development July 09, 2009
The Music Center/Performing Arts Center of Los Angeles County, one of the nation's premier performing arts institutions located in Downtown Los Angeles, seeks a professional to serve in the role of securing gifts in the range of $25,000 to $1 million.

Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Development, the successful candidate will be directly responsible for managing a portfolio of 150 major gift prospects; conducting research and establishing contacts to further develop prospects; researching data for proposal development; working with the President, Vice President, Associate Vice President and other administrators to develop strategies for solicitation; establishing and meeting goals in alignment with Music Center priorities; overseeing volunteers and respective fundraising efforts; drafting, preparing and presenting proposals for major gifts prospects, foundations and corporations; working closely and effectively with staff to ensure timely and accurate maintenance of all gift, solicitation and donor information while ensuring tracking and fulfillment of pledges, donor recognition activities, receipting and timely acknowledgments.

The qualified candidate must possess a Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; advance degree preferred; 5 plus years of directly-related progressively responsible work experience with a proven record of successful cultivation and solicitation of large gifts; demonstrated working knowledge of all areas of fundraising with particular emphasis on major gifts; experience in the cultural arts a plus; exceptional communications skills (verbal and written) including demonstrated success in writing proposals, acknowledgement letters and stewardship reports; highly organized with demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize, implement tasks and work effectively in a complex, dynamic environment; computer proficiency required with experience with Millennium Database or equivalent donor software highly desirable; flexible work schedule with the ability to work evenings and weekends; travel mostly within So. California area.

Salary range: $72,000 to $80,000 commensurate with experience; compensation package includes health (employee company paid medical/HMO, dental and vision coverage) and welfare benefits, vacation and sick days, 401(k) plan with employer contribution, plus more.
